The HIU Royals Women's Cross Country team had a strong showing at the GSAC Championships Friday November 8th in Irvine, CA. They finished fifth of the nine teams competing, falling To Vanguard, Westmont, Menlo and The Master's. They were just four minutes behind the fourth place Master's Mustangs with a team time of 1:45:41.0.

The Royals top finisher today was Daphne Salomon (JR/Chino, CA) who finished 13th with a time of 19:46.4 with a 6:22/m pace. This race would earn Salomon All-GSAC honors for her performance. Following Salomon was Shaylynn Wynn (FR/Bellflower, CA) who finished 19th with a time of 20:16.3. Sofia Gutierrez (FR/Placentia, CA) crossed the finish line third for the Royals and 30th overall with a time of 21:22.8. Fourth team finish for the Royals was Tabitha Abbey (JR/Fullerton, CA) who crossed the finish line 35th overall with a time of 21:55.1. Jasmine Valdez (FR/Fullerton) was the 39th finisher overall and the fifth and final team time of 22:20.6 to secure the fifth place finish overall for the women's team time. The final finishers for the Royals were Veronica Chen (FR/Anaheim, CA) who came in 40th out of 65 runners with a time of 22:32.4, and Alexandra Rodriguez (FR/San Pedro, CA) who finished 54th with a time of 29:47.3.
